BLUE BIRD is an Edey & Duff Doughdish that reflects the timeless design of Nathanael Herreshoff’s classic 12-1/2 footer. With her traditional lines and classic New England styling, the Doughdish combines the appearance of the original wooden sloops with the practicality of fiberglass construction.

Designed to the original hull dimensions and rig of Herreshoff’s 1914 design, the Doughdish can compete alongside wooden boats in class races and regattas. BLUE BIRD offers the opportunity to enjoy a classic design that has remained popular with sailors for generations. Her varnish is in good shape, though maintenance coats are recommended before her next launch. The bottom would benefit from a light sanding and fresh topcoat.

The Doughdish is a fiberglass reproduction of the original Herreshoff 12-1/2 footer. It is constructed in foam sandwich fiberglass with teak trim. It is built to the exact hull dimensions and rig of the sloops designed by N. G. Herreshoff in 1914. As a result they are able to compete against the wooden boats in class races and regattas.
